The Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) of Sudan is the highest governing authority in the country, established following the ousting of former President Omar al-Bashir in April 2019. The council’s formation came after months of popular protests against al-Bashir’s regime and represents a power-sharing agreement between civilian and military forces in Sudan.
Objectives of the Council
- Manage State Affairs During the Transition: Ensure the country’s stability and prepare for the transfer of power to an elected civilian government.
- Institutional Reforms: Implement comprehensive reforms in government structures and security institutions.
- Achieve Peace: Negotiate with armed movements and achieve comprehensive peace agreements.
- Economic Improvement: Address economic challenges and achieve sustainable development.
