In affirmation of the Government of Sudan’s unwavering commitment to international humanitarian law, and pursuant to its responsibilities toward its citizens across the nation and their fundamental rights to access food and medicine, and in light of the outcomes of the summit convened in September in Juba, the capital of South Sudan, between His Excellency the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit of the Republic of South Sudan—during which both parties discussed cooperation between the two sisterly countries to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to citizens in South Kordofan State, specifically in the cities of Kadugli and Julud—in cooperation with the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs of the Republic of South Sudan and the Supreme Humanitarian Operations Mechanism of Sudan, an air bridge has been launched from Juba to Kadugli to transport humanitarian aid including foodstuffs and life-saving medicines. The total volume of this aid is estimated at 1,000 tons, flawn through 78 air trips.

This commitment was further emphasized during the dialogue initiated by the Sudanese government with the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North (SPLM-N) to reach an agreement on opening humanitarian corridors along three designated routes. A high-level delegation, led by His Excellency General Shams El-Din Kabbashi, Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, has participated in this dialogu, graciously sponsored by the Government of South Sudan, represented by His Excellency Adviser on Security Affairs, Mr. Tut Gatluak.

The Government of Sudan hopes that this operation will proceed in a spirit of responsibility, prioritizing the well-being of citizens, and refraining from the exploitation of humanitarian conditions as a weapon against the innocent.

The Government of Sudan once again extends its sincere appreciation to HE President Salva Kiir Mayardit, his esteemed government, and the brotherly people of South Sudan for fostering an enabling environment for the launch of r humanitarian operations for the citizens of South Kordofan, exemplifying the profound and enduring bonds between the two nations and their brotherly peoples.
