Press Statement

H.E. Amb. Hussein Awad Ali, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Sudan, welcomed the decision of US President Joe Biden to lift some of the restrictions imposed by the United States on Sudan under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act, which allows it to obtain US development assistance and benefit from the USAID Global Health Care Program.
The Minister said that the decision represents an important progress in relations between the two countries, and will contribute to reconstruction efforts, especially the rehabilitation of the health sector after it was targeted by the rebel militia.
His Excellency called on the US government to take further measures that allow Sudan to benefit from all the assistance provided by the United States due to its urgent need in light of the war imposed on it and the natural disasters it has been exposed to.
