On the afternoon of Friday, August 9, 2024, His Excellency Hussein Awad Ali, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with His Excellency Indonesian President Joko Widodo at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta. During the meeting, he delivered a written message from His Excellency General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, conveying themes of brotherhood and the strengthening of relations between the two countries.

During the meeting, the Minister expressed his gratitude to the government and people of Indonesia for the timely humanitarian aid provided to the people of Sudan.

The Minister also briefed the President on the current situation in Sudan, noting that the country is facing an unprecedented conspiracy involving international and regional powers. He affirmed that Sudan remains open to peace and peaceful negotiations through the implementation of the outcomes of the Jeddah forum.

Regarding bilateral relations, His Excellency expressed Sudan’s desire to cooperate with Indonesia in the fields of education, food security, infrastructure, and reconstruction projects.

For his part, the Indonesian President asked the Minister to convey his greetings to the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council and affirmed that Indonesia supports peace efforts and the secure delivery of humanitarian aid.

The Indonesian President also thanked the Sudanese government for assisting in the evacuation of Indonesian citizens and stated that Indonesia is ready to provide further humanitarian assistance to Sudan if needed.
