On the evening of Thursday, August 8, 2024, His Excellency Ambassador Hussein Awad Ali, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with members of the Sudanese community in Jakarta. This meeting was part of his official three-day visit to Indonesia, during which he met with top Indonesian officials, including President Joko Widodo, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Dr. Fadli Zon, and ASEAN Secretary-General Dr. Kim Haroon.

During the meeting, the Minister provided an update, reassuring the community about the latest developments in Sudan. He listened attentively to the concerns and issues facing the Sudanese community in Indonesia, emphasizing the state’s commitment to caring for its expatriates and protecting their interests as a key component of diplomatic efforts. He noted that public diplomacy is a vital counterpart and supporter of official diplomacy in strengthening foreign relations. The Minister also pledged to raise and discuss the community’s concerns with all relevant authorities in Sudan, particularly regarding the renewal and issuance of passports.

It is noteworthy that the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs delivered a written message from the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council to the current Indonesian President, containing themes of brotherhood and the strengthening of relations between the two friendly countries.
