His Excellency Mr. Hussein Awad Ali, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with His Excellency Mr. Taher Salem Al-Baour, the Libyan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, on the evening of Monday, September 2, 2024, during their participation in the activities of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Summit in Beijing.
The meeting addressed the bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to develop and strengthen ties of communication and cooperation, given the similar circumstances surrounding both nations. The ministers emphasized the importance of coordinating their positions at both the regional and international levels. During the meeting, the two ministers also exchanged updates on the situations in their respective countries to enhance mutual understanding and ensure proper coordination and collaboration between them.
The Sudanese Minister expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Libyan government and people for hosting thousands of Sudanese who sought refuge in Libya due to the war in Sudan. He commended the Libyan authorities for treating them as Libyan citizens, which has facilitated their residency, education, and medical care.
Meanwhile, the Libyan Minister praised the strong relations between the two brotherly nations and Sudan’s supportive stance toward the legitimate government in Libya.
