THE REPUBLIC OF THE SUDAN

MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS

DEPARTMENT OF MEDIA AND SPOKESPERSON

Press Release

The dissolved rebel Rapid Support militia, at dawn today, Saturday, November 11, 2023, destroyed the Shambat Bridge on the Nile River, which connects the cities of Omdurman and Khartoum Bahri, in a desperate attempt to stop the advance of the armed forces supported by the masses of the Sudanese people.

This heinous crime comes as an extension of the strategy of systematic destruction of the Sudanese state, which the terrorist militia resorted to after its failure to seize power by force and its defeat on the battlefields. Today’s crime was preceded by the destruction and burning of a number of strategic economic institutions, public facilities, universities, hospitals, cultural and religious centers in the capital and a number of states, and the most recent of these crimes was the attempt to burn the Khartoum refinery last week.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns this systematic destruction of the state’s infrastructure, and its latest episode so far is the destruction of this vital bridge. It calls on the international community to condemn this terrorist crime and similar crimes that preceded it, and to hold the militia responsible for these crimes and those countries behind them. Sudan has a long hand in building them and continues to supply the terrorist militia. With weapons of destruction and killing of civilians. The time will come when it is revealed and Sudan reserves its right to demand appropriate compensation from those countries for the destruction and devastation they caused.
