His Excellency Mr. Hussein Awad Ali, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, addressed the ministerial meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Friday, September 27, 2024, during his participation in the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

In his speech, the Minister pointed out the continued aggression carried out by rebel militias against Sudan with regional support, targeting innocent civilians and infrastructure, in clear violation of international humanitarian law. He emphasized that the proper description of this war as a “genocide” is key to finding the correct solution to the crisis.The Minister praised the statement issued by the OIC ministerial meeting, which described the militias as “rebel forces.”

He reaffirmed Sudan’s support for the Palestinian cause and the right of the Palestinian people to obtain their full rights and to end the illegal occupation of Palestinian territories in accordance with the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice. He called for mobilizing international efforts to pressure Israel to comply with international will, implement UN resolutions, and adhere to the two-state solution.

The Minister also announced Sudan’s solidarity with Lebanon in the face of Israeli aggression and expressed support for the Rohingya people, emphasizing the need for their return to their homeland.

Furthermore, he reiterated Sudan’s support for the OIC and its vital role in addressing the numerous challenges facing the Islamic Ummah.
