On the evening of August 14, 2024, the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, received a phone call from U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken. The conversation was related to the Geneva talks.

The Chairman of the Sovereignty Council reiterated Sudan’s firm stance, which is centered on adhering to the implementation of the Jeddah Declaration according to the vision presented to the parties of the Jeddah platform. He emphasized that there is no objection to sitting down with the facilitators of the Jeddah platform to discuss the implementation methods. However, he confirmed Sudan’s rejection of expanding the list of facilitators.
