The Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, arrived today in the Angolan capital, Luanda, for an official visit at the invitation of Angolan President João Lourenço.

A formal reception ceremony was held for the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council at the Presidential Palace in Luanda.

The two sides entered into joint official talks, discussing the deep-rooted relations between Sudan and Angola and ways to support and develop them for the benefit of the people of both countries.

Both parties expressed their desire to enhance the prospects for mutual cooperation between the two countries in various fields. During his meeting with the Angolan President, the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council provided a detailed briefing on the current situation in Sudan, in light of the rebellion led by the Rapid Support Forces militia against the state and its institutions. He emphasized the government’s engagement with all peace initiatives, reflecting its belief in the importance of peace and stability.

He also pointed out the agreement signed in Jeddah and the non-compliance of the rebel militia with its outcomes.

For his part, the Angolan President thanked the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council for accepting the invitation to visit Angola, noting the strong ties between the two countries.

It is worth mentioning that the meeting was accompany by the Director of the General Intelligence Service, General Ahmed Ibrahim Mofadal.
